Q: Why are some features available on iOS not also supported on Android?
A: Although Oomph strives for feature parity across platforms, unfortunately it is not possible for us to support all features for several reasons:
- some features may be specific to iOS only (e.g. Apple maps)
- Android Fragmentation means there is a vast number of android devices with differing operating systems, screen sizes and hardware limitations that we need to consider. This makes it a difficult task for us to test compatibility across all known Android devices and makes it an impossible task to guarantee that all features will behave to the same high standard that our publishers and designers have grown to use and love on iOS. For example, we have found that some of the older or lower-end Android devices have less processing power and are slow to render some animations. In order to provide a level of consistency, we decided to remove the support for certain animations altogether.
Our aim is to support as many features as possible for Android OS 4.4 KitKat devices or later, at the same time maintaining a high quality immersive experience for the end-user.

Q: Why does the UI (user interface) look different on Android to how it does on iOS?
A: We have based our Android UI on that of the Amazon Kindle e-book Reader. This is one of the most popular content readers available on Android and the aim was to provide users with some familiarity.
Q: Is paid content purchase available on Android?
A: Currently we only support apps with free content however in future releases of the Oomph Android solution we plan to offer support for in-app purchases and subscriptions too.
