Matching Product IDs
For paid content, it is critical that the product IDs set up as in-app purchases in iTunes Connect match what you add to the publishing center. If not, users will not be able to successfully purchase your content.
There are two ways to set up your product IDs:
1. Create your product IDs in Publish, then export them to iTunes Connect. This is the recommended way as it leaves little room for error.
2. Create your product IDs in iTunes Connect, then add them to Publish manually.
Exporting Product IDs to iTunes Connect
To export your existing product IDs to iTunes Connect, follow these instructions: Exporting In-app purchases.
Add Product IDs Manually
If you've previously set up paid product IDs in iTunes Connect, you can add them into the publishing center, but you need to be careful that you add them exactly as specified in iTunes Connect, otherwise purchases will not work.
Note. If your content is free, you do not need to set up product IDs in iTunes Connect, nor does it matter what you use in the publishing center, for free content, the product IDs only need to be unique, they are not used for in-app purchasing.
A Product ID that does not exactly match the In-App Purchase ID will cause errors when the user tries to download the content.
The Product ID should be a string of words separated by full-stops (NO SPACES), similar com.mogeneration.examplepublisher.examplemagazine.2012.march. You should copy & paste this product ID rather than manually typing it out.
